Christians Aren't Perfect!

Jan 18, 2026    Pastor Dennis

We all make mistakes - it's part of being human. But what happens when our mistakes spiral into sin? This message explores four critical categories of mistakes that can lead us down dangerous paths. First, there are panic-prompted mistakes, like Abraham's decision to flee to Egypt during a famine despite God's command to stay put, or the hasty choices we make in romance and finance when fear overtakes faith. Second, we encounter mistakes born from neglect - King David's failure to discipline his son Adonijah serves as a sobering reminder of how our busyness can cost us dearly in family relationships and spiritual vitality. Third, unrestrained curiosity can be deadly, as King Saul discovered when he consulted a medium and died within 24 hours. Finally, blind spot mistakes plague us all - like Peter separating himself from Gentile believers when Jewish Christians arrived, we often fail to see our own inconsistencies. Yet the beautiful truth emerges from Psalm 31: God doesn't abandon us in our failures. When we're backed into corners by our mistakes, when we're consumed with grief over our sins, God sets our feet in a large place. Christians aren't perfect - we're just forgiven. While consequences for our actions remain real, God's forgiveness is greater still. He invites us to return, to confess, to be cleansed and restored.
