Marriage: Family Driven Faith - "Live the Word at Home"

Jun 7, 2026    Pastor Dennis

This powerful message challenges us to reconsider the foundation of how we raise our children in faith. Drawing from Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6, we discover that multi-generational faithfulness isn't a Sunday-only endeavor but an all-day, everyday process. The Scripture calls us to teach our children diligently when we sit at home, when we walk by the way, when we lie down, and when we rise up. The message reveals three critical phases in biblical parenting: discipline and training, basic instruction in Christian doctrine, and discipleship. We learn that obedience isn't just about compliance but about spiritual formation. When children learn to obey their parents immediately, respectfully, and completely, they're actually learning to be filled with the Spirit and submit to God's authority. The fifth commandment to honor father and mother isn't just for individual blessing but for the preservation of the community of faith across generations. This teaching confronts our cultural tendency to accept delayed obedience, disrespectful attitudes, and compromise in child-rearing. Instead, we're called to a higher standard where the Bible directs both the method and manner of training our children, not secular psychology or cultural norms. The challenge is clear: if we want our children to follow Christ, we must intentionally disciple them at home, teaching them not just how to behave like Christians but how to believe like Christians.
